Things or something else

What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

Five things can mean something else — I like to talk about the upgraded version of these five things, the ones that carry stories of trauma and transformation.

1. The Wardrobe:
I had always dreamed of having a wardrobe with designated partitions, like the ones in a presidential suite at a hotel. Those wardrobes were to die for. I finally achieved this dream and have been using such a wardrobe since 2018.

2. The Hangers:
I always wanted red hangers, and eventually, I got bunches of red hangers neatly hanging in this wardrobe. The upgraded version? Wooden hangers. They hold all my clothes perfectly in place without causing creases or crusting. Right now, I only have a quarter set of matching wooden hangers — it’s still a work in progress.

3. The Car:
I wanted to upgrade from a small hatchback to a sedan, and I finally did that in 2024. Another dream, ticked off.

4. The Smartphone:
Compared to the laptop or those dinosaur-era phones I once used, my current smartphone is a huge upgrade. I can now type out a post without overthinking or filtering, and write down all the stories crowding my mind — finally pouring them out for everyone to read. Super cool.

5. The TV Box:
Back in 2018, when Netflix was just becoming popular, the idea of a TV box was unheard of. I remember someone saying that Netflix stock would triple in the next six months. I chose not to listen, thinking the market was too unpredictable. But Netflix expanded rapidly, becoming the largest paid online TV platform. Still, the simplest version of me is just… being me.

I am not the mind.
I am not the body.
I am the soul — using the mind and body to operate each minute, each second, with every breath I take. And so it is for billions of others living their lives too.

That’s not candy at all.
