What profession do you admire most and why?

I admire the profession of teaching the most. Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping society by nurturing young minds and fostering a love of learning. 

The three teachers I disliked attending classes with the most were Aminah Basir, Mrs Nathan and Mr. Kodiswaran.

Mr. Kodiswaran, with his hair like barbed wire, came to tutor my brother and me at home. He would assign the same type of math problems repeatedly, but I struggled to grasp his teaching. I stuck with it until the end, though. The most valuable lesson he taught me was a technique for solving problems. In exams, I would get confused when the numbers changed but followed the same format as the practice problems. I’m extremely grateful because that technique has helped me navigate challenges in life to this day.

Puan Aminah Basir was once my tuition teacher and also a hockey and physical education teacher at my school during my teenage years. My neighbors attended her tuition class, and eventually, my brother went first, followed by my younger sister and me.

She was incredibly strict, and homework had to be completed before attending her class. She instilled in me the importance of working hard to understand what you’re learning, then continuing to practice until you become proficient and achieve your goals.

Mrs Nathan, was the tuition neighborhood teacher down the road. Her idea of studying was to read aloud, remember the flow of the language and ability of retain by memorize. That’s is one of weakest point of memorize as I couldn’t retain the flow and my mind went blank just as entering the exam hall. That’s my biggest drawback.

Their influence extends far beyond the classroom, as they inspire critical thinking, creativity, and a sense of responsibility in their students.What I find particularly admirable about teaching is the dedication it requires.

Teachers often work long hours, preparing lessons, grading assignments, and finding ways to engage students, sometimes with limited resources. Despite these challenges, they remain committed to their students’ success, adapting their methods to meet individual needs and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their potential.

Moreover, the impact of a good teacher can last a lifetime. Many people can recall a teacher who made a significant difference in their lives, whether by encouraging them during difficult times, sparking a passion for a particular subject, or simply believing in their potential.

This lasting influence highlights the profound responsibility and privilege that comes with the teaching profession.In essence, I admire teachers for their ability to transform lives, one student at a time, and for their unwavering dedication to the future of society. Their work may not always be glamorous or highly paid, but it is undeniably essential.
