If you could erase one event from history, what would it be?

If I could erase one event from history, I would erase all the images of the past from my mind—every unnecessary memory, imagination, old connection, fear, hatred, and story that keeps pulling me away from the present.

I would let every image disappear. What purpose is there in carrying people from the past into the present when their presence no longer serves any purpose?

Why keep replaying old situations, imagined telepathy, hatred, fear, tension, or painful connections? Why allow the mind to create endless stories around people who have already moved on with their own lives?I would erase the need to remain connected to toxic and miserable memories.

I would stop asking why people behaved the way they did, why they created fear, or why they caused tension. I was not placed on this earth to change everyone around me.I would simply close the door.I would also let go of the habit of remembering people only through what happened in the past.

Whether someone is alive, gone, or remembered after death, I do not need to carry an entire history of them inside my mind. The greatest thing I could erase is not the people themselves, but the mental images of them.I would shut the door on imaginary past lives, old stories, imagined connections, and everything else that belongs to yesterday.

Let those images disappear completely.

The Bhagavad Gita begins with Arjuna standing before the battlefield, overwhelmed by everything he sees:“Dharma-kṣetre kuru-kṣetre…”“On the field of dharma, on the field of Kurukshetra…”— Bhagavad Gita 1.1

But my battlefield is this present moment.I do not need to fight yesterday.

I do not need to predict tomorrow. I only need to do what is necessary now, with the best action I can give. The next second will become the past.So I let it go.

The Gita ends with Arjuna finding clarity and declaring:“Kariṣye vacanaṁ tava.”“I will do as You say.”— Bhagavad Gita 18.73

That is what I want: no more living through images of the past.Let them disappear.Let the mind become empty of unnecessary stories.Let this moment be enough.

The past has disappeared. The future has not arrived. I am here, now, doing what needs to be done.
