Furthest home

Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.

In 2008, I chose a path away from the comfort of familiar voices. I boarded a bus to Melaka, not with family or friends, but with only myself. When I arrived, I sat at a table beside a family whose laughter reminded me of what I had left behind. Couples strolled by, children clung to their parents, and I wondered, Had I made the right choice?

Yet as I wandered through the streets, I discovered something I had not expected. What began from anger became a lesson. In solitude, I met a part of myself that had been hidden beneath years of attachment.

That day was not just a trip to a foreign town—it was the furthest I had ever gone into myself. It was the tip of an iceberg, a daring step into a place few dare to venture. And today, as I walk my spiritual journey, I see that first act of courage was not about distance, but about answering the longing of my inner self.
