What do you do to improve your sleep?
For one who is disciplined in eating, recreation, work, sleep, and wakefulness, yoga becomes the destroyer of suffering.” — Bhagavad Gita

The little monk asked, “Master, everyone says sleep is rest. But why do you call the last seven minutes before sleep a miracle?”
The sage smiled.”Because the mind is like wet clay before sleep. Whatever you gently press into it leaves an imprint for tomorrow.”
“What should I do?””For seven minutes, sit quietly and meditate. Let today’s dust settle.”
“And then?””Offer a prayer—not to ask for more, but to be grateful for what already is.”The monk nodded.”And then?”
“Write tomorrow’s to-do list before you sleep. Empty it from your mind onto paper. A mind carrying tomorrow’s burdens cannot rest.”
“And after that?”The sage closed his eyes.
“See yourself completing each task with clarity, calmness, and joy. Do not imagine the struggle. Imagine the completion.”
The monk thought for a moment.”What if I wake up and want to sleep again?”
The sage replied gently,”Do not negotiate with your bed. The first moment you become aware, rise. Every time you return to sleep without need, you strengthen yesterday’s habit. Every time you rise immediately, you strengthen tomorrow’s freedom.”
“So conscious sleep begins before I sleep?””Exactly. Conscious sleep is not about sleeping less. It is about sleeping with intention, waking with purpose, and refusing to live inside unconscious routines.”
The sage looked at the monk with kind eyes.”Do not fear being tired for one morning. Fear repeating the same unconscious pattern for another year.”What do you do to improve your sleep?”
Let a person lift oneself by oneself, and not degrade oneself. The mind alone is the friend of the self, and the mind alone is the enemy.” — Bhagavad Gita
